The Crew of MaryLou Sportfishing Charters
Meet This Crew of Avid New Jersey Fishermen

Darren Volker (Captain)
I have been running a boat since I was 15 years old, when my father bought a 21-foot center console. We started off doing some winter flounder fishing and summer fluke and bluefish. For the next 10 years, owning several different boats, I was able to gain a lot of experience in saltwater fishing.
During this time I would spend pretty much every weekend with my father and friends (the crew) out on the water in the Sandy Hook Raritan bay area.

We started getting pretty serious about saltwater fishing and began entering some fluke tournaments. After getting a true taste of the sport, we began to venture further offshore and started targeting different species of game fish. It was then that I decided to acquire my USCG Captains license and begin taking charters. My main objective for doing so was so that I could pass along what I had learned to other fishermen. I can say that it has turned out to be extremely rewarding and the past 15 years have left me with irreplaceable memories. On a final note I can’t think of a better way to spend time with friends or with family than on the open waters off the Jersey coast! [back to top]

Jeff Volker (Mate)
Jeff is the backbone of our Crew and the one we all go to when we have a question that takes some real life experience. Jeff is also an avid deer hunter and has been saltwater fishing for longer than the rest of the crew has been in existence, and the knowledge and experience that he brings is overwhelming. Just when the rest of us think we know it all, he surprises us with another tip or technique. Over the past years, while spending countless hours on the water, the much younger crew have often been exhausted and fished out, while there he was still trying to catch the last fish! If you get the opportunity to be aboard with Jeff, take notice of his relentless drive to catch fish! [back to top]

Dan Quigley (Captain)
Dan has been fishing along the New Jersey coast for 15 years, from Sandy Hook to Long Beach Island. He delights in helping fishermen catch their trophy fish. Being a U.S.C.G licensed captain over the past few years, he believes in the principle "never leave fish to catch fish." Whether fishing for fluke, sea bass, blues, or his favorite stripers, he wants the fish in the boat. Captain Dan and crew want to provide the most safe and memorable charter possible. The techniques may have changed, but the fish still love to bite. [back to top]

Phil Mancini (Mate)
I have been a saltwater fisherman for most of my life, gaining most of my knowledge as a youth with in-shore fishing, then gradually working my way to off-shore fishing. I have been salt-water fishing for about 15 years with the Mary Lou Crew. Working with the same crew for all of these years makes for a nice day on the job.

I have caught a countless number of fish over the years, and since I have been a mate, I realize that there is nothing more rewarding than to be able to teach someone less experienced or helping out a new-comer to the sport that I love. Words cannot describe the way I feel on the water. There's something about the friends made, and memories created. I can't think of a better way to spend my time than on the waters off the Jersey Coast.
